Overview

The Railroad Coordinator is the main point of contact and oversees all coordination and logistics for the rail construction aspects within a project. This position will support our Long Bridge North project. This project will expand a current two-track rail corridor to four-tracks significantly reducing rail congestion in southwest Washington DC. Construction will include 1.8 miles of improvements, 7 new bridges and 20,000 feet of tracks. After completion, Long Bridge with increase rail traffic capacity for CSX, Virginial Railway Express, and Amtrak trains.

What you will be doing

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Maintains vital timely communication between JV, JV’s Subcontractors, and all adjacent railroads within the project limits, to minimize impacts, maintain the project schedule, and reach project milestones.
  • Liaisons with assigned REIC (Railroad Employee in Charge) on the project in order to facilitate a safe and smooth working operations that works for the contractor and owner’s of Right-Of-Way on a daily basis.
  • Works with fields supervisors to establish hour by hour schedule for all work window work or off revenue hour work.
  • Determines the worker activity protection is adequate and in accordance with (on-track safety) requirements.
  • Meets in person on jobsite to investigate and resolve any issues that arise from Crews and flaggers.
  • Elevates issues that cannot be resolved in a relatively short time to applicable leadership to ensure safety and project timeline criteria.
  • Other construction related coordination as assigned.
  • Maintains knowledge of Flatiron’s company values and strategic plan.

  • Performs additional assignments per management’s direction.

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ten years of heavy civil construction experience with a minimum of two years of railway experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of railroad track maintenance, commuter transit railroad system, and civil construction.
  • Ability to oversee logistics and communicate with others effectively to achieve results.
  • Ability to solve issues as they arise and provide solutions to team members.
  • Ability to engage, participate, and promote organizational culture.
  • Ability to have regular and predictable attendance and punctuality on the project site and/or in office locations as required. 
  • Must be able to demonstrate ability to communicate in written and verbal English language with prior record keeping experience.
  • Must be familiar with and proficient using the Microsoft Suite of Office programs; specifically, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.   
  • Must possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills.

USD $110,000.00/Yr.
